Amway global leadership team

Amway is an entrepreneur-led health and wellbeing company that operates in more than 100 countries and territories. As such it has a leadership team and board of directors that are focused on global strategy development and delivering meaningful experiences for Amway Independent Business Owners (IBOs) and customers all over the world.

President and CEO Michael Nelson heads the Amway Global Leadership Team while Steve Van Andel and Doug DeVos serve as co-chairs of the Amway Board of Directors. Nelson has been with Amway for more than 30 years, holding critical leadership positions in the areas of strategy, supply chain and technology, among many other disciplines across the organization. He leads the overall management of Amway and is responsible for setting the company’s strategic vision and growth strategies.

Van Andel is the eldest son of Amway Co-Founder Jay Van Andel. He has been part of leading a strategic transformation of the company with a focus on growth through digital tools, mobile experiences and product innovations.

DeVos is the son of Amway Co-Founder Rich DeVos. He previously served as president of Amway for more than 16 years. His focus on fostering entrepreneurship and providing opportunities for people around the world to start a business of their own helped drive Amway to its leadership position in the industry.

Amway North America leaders

Amway North America, the company’s second largest market, is also lead by an experienced team dedicated to improving experiences for IBOs and customers, starting with Regional President-West Andrew Schmidt.

Schmidt, who has been with Amway for more than a decade, holds day-to-day leadership responsibilities for Amway North America as well as Amway’s Latin American markets, Europe, South Africa, Australia and New Zealand. He is supported by Vice President of Sales Scott Scheidmantel, Chief Marketing Officer Kelli Templeton and Chief IBO Enablement Officer Kristin Whalen.

Amway ownership: Who owns Amway?

As the world’s number one direct selling company, some people may wonder: Is Amway publicly traded? No; you won’t hear about Amway stocks and shareholders in the news. Amway is a family-owned business, just as it was when it was founded in 1959. The Amway owners are the Van Andel and DeVos families. Steve and Doug affirmed in a recent video interview that they want to keep Amway ownership in the family for future generations.

Amway founding families

Amway’s founding families have worked together since the very beginning. Jay’s wife, Betty, and Rich’s wife, Helen, were there at the start helping to grow the fledgling company. Their children were put to work, as well, many going on to hold leadership positions within the company.

Today, in addition to Steve’s and Doug’s roles on the board, many third generation family members are employees at Amway, continuing the family legacy. The founding families are committed to the business and to supporting the partnership with employees and IBOs for years to come.
